VIETNAM magazine, Oct. 2013, has a photo of a 1st Cav GI with PRC-25 with a
LS-??
speaker on his right side of the radio, speaker facing to the right.
Military History Quarterly, Autumn 2013, has a photo of Marines going ashore
at
Inchon. One is carrying a SCR-300 radio but it's strapped to a packboard he
is
wearing.
Any comment on the why or frequency of (what I consider) unconventional
arrangements?

The Viet magazine also has an article about interdicting the Ho Chi Minh
trail,
with about a page of info on how the monitoring system worked, discusses
some
types of monitors, but with no nomenclatures given. Photo of GI in chopper
about
to hand launch a torpedo shaped thing with the bomb shaped part about two
foot
long and a mast attached following for about another 4 foot. Also a photo of
a
buried monitor with small ground plane antenna above ground.
