[Milsurplus] Toys on Parade

I attend milradio/milvehicle shows a few times a year. At the next show I plan to bring my 72 land rover lightweight. But I am very reluctant to wear anything that might suggest I ever served anywhere because I didn't. I am not a re-enactor and I am not a vet. I have thought about getting a uniform but I wouldn't want to be thought of as a "poser" which is how I would feel.
I would rather reserve the honor of wearing a uniform to those who actually served.

Years ago, many years ago, I was involved in a re-enactor group that also
drew crowds of people clothed inappropriately for the Middle Ages. The
same kind of issues were raised at the time.
Basically, we selected a few 'ambassadors' to chat with the people in
modern clothes, and most everybody else pretty much ignored them.
It's not so easy to exclude onlookers from events in outdoor sites. We
also did indoor events that were everybody in appropriate dress.
