Retired Military can wear a uniform under certain
circumstances. They have the option to wear the
current uniform, or one like they were using at the
time of retirement. (In the USA, other countries
have similar rules.)
While in that uniform the retiree is expected to
present themselves in the proper manner, and
mixed clothing is not allowed.
I keep a jacket and attached hardware, and a shirt
and a tie, for when I'm at my funeral. No trowsers.
SMS Whitaker, (USAF Retired), said that.
