If you have a garagefull or rental storage crammed with numerous units and accessories,
you could simplify your life, and amaze civilians, by condensing it down to one large
mass in the same space. Here's a remarkable parade of such toys at a military vehicles
show, apparently in Netherlands. The kenner will recognize a very interesting variety
of Wehrmacht vehicles. One thing I kinda still don't get is how enthusiastic Dutch
and other Europeans seem to be about ex Third Reich militaria, considering how they
experienced the stay of their uninvited guests. Or maybe it's just the steadily fewer
older folks, who can remember those years, in fact - cannot forget. Anyway you have
to admire the workmanship that went into restoring these vehicles, which were often
found as rusting out partial hulks. I read about one collector in Normandy who just
restored a Funkwagen, radio truck – a totally authentic restoral, and a labor of years.
Some of the unavailable parts he used were actually "dug" parts: unearthed from the
Falaise Gap corridor, where Americans bulldozed German convoy wreckage into pits
along the road.
This would have been fun to attend. I would have gotten quite a thrill to have a
Sturmgeschutz pass close by, shaking the ground.
