[Milsurplus] 3Q5 tube used for what?

The 3Q5 was a popular audio output tube in late 1930s and some postwar
battery portable radios. It is fairly close to the characteristics of
the 3V4, but I think it puts out a bit less power. It was not as popular
as the 3V4, and I made adapters to substitute 3V4s for broken or missing
3Q5s. I think the R-100 morale receiver had one in paralell with a 25L6,
the 3Q5 didn't receive filament voltage when the receiver was operated
on line power, and the 25L6 sits cold and idle when batteries are
used. If I am not mistaken, the R-100 uses the cathode current of the
25L6 to light the remaining battery tube filaments when the receiver is
operated on line power. I have a couple R-100s in fair shape I will
restore sometime unless someone here takes interest in them first.
