Couple things big happened in December 1946 QST.  All the Hallicrafters dealers at the time had ads in QST for the NEW SX-42 receiver.

The ARRL apparently had lots of inquiries about whether it was worthwhile to buy the BC-375-E and how much work it would be to put one on the air.  They brought one into the lab and went to work on it discussing some of the problems they ran into.  A pretty detailed article in case you've got one and want to put it on the air.
