Subject: Navy TBX-6 Transmitter-Receiver & Mics for Sale
To: nick at navy-radio.com
Hello Nick,
I just found the "Rob Flory" website. I am Dr. Allan Pacela of Solvang, CA.
I am an MIT Electrical Engineer, age 75.
In about 1956, I purchased a war surplus Transmitter-Receiver in
Chicago and set it aside.
My own career was in medical electronics, and I simply saved/collected
the Transmitter Receiver as
a beautiful example of radio electronics and mechanical technology.
Now, it is time for my wife and I to downsize our home. So I am now
willing to part with this transmitter-receiver.
I never put power to it, so I have no idea of the condition of the
tubes or capacitors, etc.
It looks like it saw service ... a slight dent in one side ... but I
don't know its history.
I do have some spare tubes as well.
Here are the specs from the nameplate:
Type CG-43005C; Serial 706; A Unit of Model TBX-6 Radio Equipment;
Navy, Bureau of Ships
General Electric, Contract No. NXsr-35352.
It has plastic calibration sheets in the top of the case (cracked but
readable), along with a connection diagram.
Two crystals are in place and it has all tubes, plus spares.
It does not have: connectors, mic., key, head phones.
In addition, I also have two Microphones available: T-17; one marked
6271-Ch1-42; the other 6490-CH1-42.
Do you have any interest in purchasing this equipment from me?
Or, where would you suggest I put this up for sale for the best price.
I want it to go to someone who cares about it.
best regards,
Dr. Allan Pacela of Solvang, CA
