Thank you Clare! I was wasting all manner of time searching without success.
I need to have a system as well organized as you have yours.

I'm responding with a copy of the thread to the lists, since some of the
discussion from five years ago may be of interest to others.

Robert's note also answers my question of if the G model could have been
included in the EMOP group. Apparently not.

And Dave's mention of a Hallicrafters-made model???

Thanks again and 73,

[ARC5] Slightly OT but interesting BC-348G???!!!

Whilst digging around in a vast box of junk and radio bits I have
discovered a complete BC-348-G dynamotor, well until now I did not know
they existed, but here it is in real life, DM-28G serial number 13, order
number 2154 CHI-41, made by Colonial radio corp. This must have been an
order that got junked or something, certainly no details anywhere on a G
model, unless it was to power something else??? any ideas.

I've never come across anything specific on it, either. But it may have
existed, but maybe only a few were made before it was superceded by the H, J
and/or M. The Airborne Radio Equipment Handbook, 1943, lists it with a note
"Not Interchangable". Meaning not interchangable with any other model. But
it doesn't say why. For reference, this list of BC-348 models says for
example for the H, "Interchangable with K and L". And for the A, D, F and I,
"Equipment does not exist".

Ken Corwin's (SK) informative BC-224/BC-348 pages at http://nj7p.org/history/bc-348.html
implies that the BC-348-G existed by citing a USAAF reference that presumably referred
to this model.

Ken did not cite that 2154-CHI-41 order number, so that would
appear to be information that Ken did not have. That very low serial
number would seem to be consistent with a small production run. That
the maker was Colonial Radio is very interesting. I thought that the
only makers of the BC-348 were RCA, Belmont, Stromberg-Carlson, and
Wells-Gardner. I wonder if the G was similar to the E/M/P models. It
would likely be impossible be to find details of the order number today.

BTW, this is not at all OT for this list. Thanks much for this info.
Now if only someone could dig up some info and photos about the mythical
BC-349 transmitter companion to the BC-348 in the SCR-260 radio set!

I know that Hallicrafters made some (no kidding), since I saw a photo of
the nomen plate years ago.

A fellow was supposed to make a trade with me for it, but it fell through.
Don't now remember what model or the name of the guy. Should have kept at
it, I guess.
