[Milsurplus] "Solid State Chokes"

John, and All  -
I may be wrong, by adding a Lytic to A. (across input to ground or B- ) 
OR B. (across the input to output),  would this not provide the 
necessary energy storage ?
I may add a question, what happens in a short condition, what circuit 
would provides the best protection to the gyrator; A Fuse?
