[Milsurplus] BC-348-C Modifications

The VT-152 (6K6) has good output when used with a low impedance output transformer. Couple of the BC-348Q receivers that I have done in the past I used old output transformers from vacuum tube junk like old tube televisions and recorder players. I have taken several butchered BC-348 sets that were too far gone for restoration and cleaned up all the stupid work and built good examples of what one of those receivers would have been if done right back in the fifties and sixties for use on the Ham bands. The only modifications that I liked were the internal AC power supply, new low impedance output transformer, S meter and coaxial input. Playing with the IF gain and additional audio stages, product detectors, separate AF and RF gain controls were   always a little over the top for me. Saw one 348 that was converted to all transistors once, maybe the BC-348 may be one of the most modified radios in the Ham radio world? Although the ARC-5 stuff may still have that title.
