[Milsurplus] Mystery unit to me

Hi Groups,

I found a unit while looking for another radio, painted OD, about 4 X 6 X 2 
inches, with about a 18 inch cable connected via BNC to about 1n 18 inch 
antenna.  It is marked Transmitter, Radio T 1115./PRT-11.  Only control is a 
on/off switch.  The unit is made by The Magnavox Co, contract 
DAAB05-68-C-0030.  Freq is marked as 49.3.  If I remember right, from some 
area's in SE Asia, that was a FM emergency Freq.  The unit has a open frame 
on back, with 4 approx 1 inch holes, that match a like bracket on bottom of 
antenna, with two of the holes.  It operates on AA cells.  To me it appears 
to be some sort of Emergency Beacon transmitter.

Any ideas? Vehicle used in?
