True, or was for a number of years recently. Not highest taxes per say, but
total tax burden or percentage of income going to taxes. There are numerous
sites that list yearly results:

You just have to read their criteria carefully as not all burdens are
figured equally. In this ranking, VT is just above MA, in 6th. Not many
years back VT was number one for several years running. It's one of the
primary reasons (along with the nutcases moving there from MA, NY, CT, CA
etc) that I left for the south.Hopefully the tax-and-spend nitwits will
stay someplace 'quaint' like New England.

Congrats MrMike on the new digs and big move. Wish I was still up there to
help you go through the equipment archive. You have some very interesting
and desirable stuff in that pile, especially the NOS surplus goodies.
