Since we're talking about the BC-221, here's one that's true.
I've seen it done, and I've done it.
When in USAF at Andrews AFB, near Wash, D.C., we were
using Navy RBP-2 to copy frequency shift facsimile from
overseas.   Year was 1949.
The BFO in the RBP-2 was not all that stable, so we set a
BC-221 Frequency Meter on a table, coupled its antenna
terminal to the antenna wires at the top of the RBP-2 rack.
Just tune the 221 for the proper hetrodyne tone frequency
going to the TXC-1 fax machine converter.
Very little is new under the Sun.
