[Milsurplus] 'X' marks the spot GF/RU

I recently acquired a dynamotor for use on the GF/RU radio set. This particular dynamotor does not have the usual nomenclature plates stating it's use for the RU * radio. Where the S/N should be stamped , there is just an 'X'.

I have a 1000Kc -1250Kc plug in tuning unit that also just has an 'X' there where the s/n should be . Some years back I brought this up to the group here on this tuning unit and I think  we came up with that the TU was a non standard... but the dynamotor is nothing special or different , at least that I can tell.

 The scholars among you ...any suggestions why just a 'X'
