AN/GRC-26 came out in 1950 and used a pair of R-336/GRC-26 (modified
BC-342's) and officially a T-213/GRC-26 (some entries in both the basic and the
A-model TM's still show it as a BC-610-(*)). The main difference between the
basic model and the SCR-399-B was in the FSK equipment and the shelter and
how and where components were mounted.
AN/GRC-38, which should have been AN/GRC-26?, came out in either late 1952
or early 1953 and used a pair of R-274's. And as Nick said, the GRC-26A...C
used a pair of R-388's. The differences between the three models were in
the Teletype machines used, in the receiver cabinets, and in the AN/TRA-7
letter models used. And for whatever reason, the manuals went back to
identifying the transmitter as a BC-610-(*).
