[Milsurplus] R-388/51J3 Difference

I've been creating a database of R-388 and R-388A info for several
years and trying to sort it all out. It is still a pretty confused
situation, actually.

I am still looking for a photo of an R-388 or R-388A in actual USN
service (although one is shown at a commsta in a drawing on the front
of some RM training manuals).

I have never seen a an R-388A/URR ID badge or heard from anyone who
has. They are plenty identified as 51J-4's. There are also R-388's
with add-on mechanical filters. What did the Navy actually get from
Collins when they ordered R-388A's - I don't know.
An actual 51J-3 is evidently extremely rare - I have a photo of an ID
plate from one, but I suspect it is a repro.

If anyone has an actual 51J-3 (not R-388), please send me info and photos.
I do have a photo of a 51J-3's original documentation, showing that it
had the MFP (tropical) treatment applied when manufactured in January
1953.

Any additional info, corrections, photos, etc. are greatly appreciated.

p.s. yes I know the difference between plurals and possessives - some
folks like R-388s instead of R-388's, but the latter is a legitimate
alternative and IMHO adds some clarification
