[Milsurplus] APN-9 Question

Has anybody taken appart an APN-9 to service it?

Background: I just got my very, very rare APN-9A. I am convinced the unit
was built by taking a standard production APN-9 and removing the analog
(charge pump)timing dividers and installing a tube digital retrofit.

Further evidence is the original parts are MFP, the added subassembly is
not. In addition there are a couple of cables with MRAC connectors. Also,
the front panel of the APN-9 has been cut out and an APN-9A assembly
installed.

The problem is, I've spent several hours trying to remove the digital
section without any success at all.

Any ideas?
