Hue -I will have to dig ours out putting the peripherals along with
it in a display like a tty and field phones would make it
interesting... any good material online detailing all of this!? We have had
this since the 80's Ed#

Hue - yes... the fellow I got ours from was pondering using it for
a
bootleg FM...
are you saying the kids got busted!?!

-What happens in these cases is the bootlegger enjoys too much success and
word
gets around and finally gets to the FCC. Yes, they were warned to shut
down.
I think
in those days, fines or confiscations were hardly ever applied. Possibly
because the
warning and order to desist always worked.
There were some young fellows who bought the former Pacific N'West Bell
marine
telephone AM transmitter, Seattle 2522 kc/s, when AM went away at the end
of 1976.
They modified it to 880 kc/s and to work thru the power lines - "carrier
current" - and
modified it also for carrier control so they could do the output
measurements with
no modulation and the numbers would be very small. I heard them every day
at
about
3 miles. Their downfall came when they began soliciting local businesses
to
buy
advertising on the station and word got back to FCC. -Hue
