Alfred Palmer's occupational photographs  during WW2  are   amazing...
 
Thanks  for the  link Sam I really enjoyed reading about  his  early 
history.  
 
on  the  subject of posing ... remember too...  kodachrome  4x5 
transparency film had  a pretty  slow   ASA  rating  so   still posed  shots   were  
preferred to motion candids... I remember  working  with kodachrome  25  on  
my 35 mm  camera as a young person.   ...   no action  sports  shots!    
BUT... WHAT   YOU  DID  SHOOT  WAS SOOOO SHARP AND SOOOO COLOR SATURATED.   
AND... SOOO PERMANENT compared to   Ektachrome...    different  process 
different dyes...
