Picked up this X-band signal generator because I had played with them in
High School when a truckload of gear had been donated. This unit has a
few mechanical dings and is quite dirty on the outside but seems in
pretty decent shape on its panel and internally. It looks like it
hasn't been operated in a very long time and may never have been in
actual use.

So I figured, what the heck, let's see what happened if I plugged it in
and fired it up. Now that I have a 8566B I can see what (if anything)
the unit is doing. Amazingly, it puts out a signal around where it
should! It's quite wobbly but sure enough there is RF at around 9.41
GHz. Decades of sitting around and the darn thing actually fires up.
Try that with today's equipment.

Next I'll go looking for a manual and see if I can't turn the thing into
a usable signal generator, at least for goofing around with milliwatt
level microwaves. In the top cover are three RG213 coax cables with N
connectors, an X band horn, some waveguide thingy and some silver
looking thin metal sheets which look like maybe waveguide choke to choke
flange couplers?
