[Milsurplus] Power supply

Too bad MARS completely stopped giving out equipment and parts. I had always wanted to join up with them for the experimentation aspect but when things became stable enough in my life to do that the equipment part had stopped. It's still in the regulations, but not done. In theory you can still make the case for things like small backup generators to run your shack, but in reality every such request is denied. It seems the preference these days is either to shread radio gear or sell for cheap to the Chinese.

Back in high school, I was a member of Army MARS. Every couple of months MARS members would receive a box with 101-pounds of "goodies", usually miscellaneous parts and assemblies. However, in either 1960 or 1961, as part of the 101-pounds, I received a "universal" power supply (brand new). This power supply was about a cubic foot in volume, maybe a little larger (if I remember correctly), was in a waterproof case, and put out all the voltages to run ARC-5 or similar equipment. The supply was pretty heavy.

This power supply had provisions to operate from 6-volts DC, 12-volts DC, 24-volts DC, 110-volts AC, and 220-volts AC. All that had to be done was to apply the input power to the proper pins on the input connector. Also, inside the supply was a small cylinder that contained the schematic of the power supply, printed on silk, that was about 2-feet by 3-feet in size.

I went off to college, and then got married my junior year and, after that, only returned to northwestern Indiana for short periods of time. When I "left home" the power supply was in the basement of my parent's house. I don't have any idea as to what my father did with the supply at a later date. It just wasn't "there" when I came to visit one day.

Anyway, I wonder if anyone, based on this very brief description, has any idea as to just what this power supply was.
