The AN/GRC-14 didn't really precede the AN/GRC-19. At the time the Marine
Corps was dancing to a different tune so they contracted International
Telephone & Telegraph (was a long-time US Navy supplier) for a mobile radio
set with similar capabilities to the Signal Corps AN/GRC-19. The GRC-14 is
the result of a different design philosophy from the Collins designed GRC-19
trying to achieve similar results. The GRC-14 design was more complicated,
and the set is much heavier and bulkier than the GRC-19. It was very short
lived in the Marine Corps which finally agreed to use Signal Corps
equipment...
I have a GRC-14 set with the same components that you have, except I have
all the original cables (except the PP-1711 power supply AC input cable
which is home-made with the correct plug). I'm still working on
troubleshooting the T-631 transmitter. The Master Oscillator and the rest of
the RF circuits work, I get grid drive to the driver tube in tune but on
transmit there is no power output at all and the frequency generation chain
is not coming on. All voltages are OK. Hope one of these days I'll find the
problem. I don't have much spare time to deal with this, except a few
minutes or maybe an hour at a time...

Too bad you're not making up the cables so you could try to put it on the
air, I'sd have someone to exchange information with...

You can see my AN/GRC-14 setup here: http://mbendror.mystarband.net/

Good luck,

Down sizing some of my big radios set.
This one is a AN/ GRC-14, AN/MRC-55.
HF 2-32 Mc, AM,CW,FSK.
This radio set was produced in the 1950's and proceed the GRC-19.They were
to
sit in the back of the M38-A1 jeep. For some reason I don't think they got
into
service.

The items I have are comprised of:
T-631 Transmitter
PP-1711 Power Supply
R-808 Receiver (Pair)
C-2172 Control Box
C-2171 Control Box
No cables sets, just all Amphenol connectors except for power input
connector
for T-631 transmitter.
I have never powered up the T-631, PP-1711 just the R-808's.
I was advised by the previous owner he too had never powered it up either,
sense
he never had cables nor connectors. P/U only in Connecticut. Total wt. for
all
items about 500+ lbs. Asking $850. I don't have any jpg's of radio set at
this
time.

If intrested e-mail for more details, ect.

Thanks in advance, Rock
