I discovered that the CW code-groups station is about 100-150 kHz lower than
Radio Korea
( Pyongyang ) listed as 9345 kHz. After the CW broadcast I listened to
Pyongyang for a
while. There was a mailbag program reading letters of condolence about the
passing of
the Fearless Leader. Pretty imaginative bunch, that VOK crew. I recall
that King Kim the
2nd promised to make DPRK a "modern and prosperous country" by 2012, so this
will
be a busy year there.
But people are people wherever they are. Back during the heyday of King Kim
II, I wrote
them a reception report and commented that their ruler needed to pay more
attention
to rice growing than making boasts and threats. Instead of taking umbrage at
this,
they sent me a nice quality hardcover book about the wartime history of King
Kim
the First.
