Not so!  I once had a TBX, was concerned about crystal current, measured
it, and it was so low I couldn't measure it, less that 40 ma.  I think
the 837 is a super tube - the TBX has 15 or 20 Watts output with one
tube and darn low crystal current.  It sounds good good on AM too.  That
said, I never liked those darn thumb-wheel tuning knobs.
