I got into the LowFER groups about twenty years ago after hearing about the
Downey ARC having a ball with QSOs in the 1960's on 1750m. I had dreams of
my YL and I setting up (terribly inefficient) 1750m SSB rigs in the cars.
When I got in, back then, it was dead, nothing left but QRSS beacons.
Twenty years later, dead, nothing but QRSS and various LTI mode beacons.
Sure, they have their place, I have a 1.2mW QRSS3/10 WPM beacon for 22m, off
the air now, will get it up in a couple of months and let it idle away, but
I really wanted a couple of 1750m SSB rigs to play with... Like you said,
the same thing, a zillion times... : (
