My favorite trick is to parallel the DC supplies in order to provide 
high
surge currents-   - - - -- I then use that supply to feed my local DC 
buss in the Operations Area and on my "Flight Deck".

  BTW watch for Cell Site power supplies at the hamfest this summer,
Lots of sites are upgrading and 50 and 75 amp supplies are often 
thrown out. Most of these supplies
accept a dynamotor load without kicking off, and have built in 
metering etc.
