?Posted this earlier but I forgot to put in a subject line. Sorry for the double
post. I'm new to this. I am looking for an APN-9 Loran receiver. Any help
finding one would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ron,
Best bet (if you cant find one through surplus dealers such as Fair Radio) is to advertise in Fisherman's News with a want ad. APN 9s were heavily used by commercial fisherman on the West Coast during the 50s and 60s and right up to the end of LORAN A transmssions. Some old timers hoard stuff and still have lockers full of obsolete gear such as AM marine radios and probably a few APN 4s and APN 9s.

The only downside of getting surplus radio gear from fisherman is salt corrosion. Good old MFP varnish applied by Uncle Sam means that it's not usually a fatal cancer, just cosmetic touch ups needed on panels and cases.
There was a ham in Sebastopol CA with the last name of Wagner who was the king of APN 9s. He repaired them and even offered a premium OH's APN 9 recapped with Orange Drops. If his heirs didn't toss everything there might be a hoard.
There was also a shop in Sausalito CA (called something like AirMar) that OH'd them for use in Pan Am 707s. Believe it or not brand new 707s had surplus APN 9s in the cockpit for a while until replaced with newer more compact gear. Last time I visited the museum at SFO they had an APN 9 painted gold on display that was given to a retiring Pan Am captain.
The CRT magnifiying lens and holder is often missing and very hard to find, but I have one somewhere in my junk pile and we can work out a trade if you need one.
What are you going to use your APN 9 for?
Good luck.
