Eric Lomax, British WW2 veteran, POW survivor of Japanese
Burma railway building effort, died Oct. 8 2012. After Japanese
guard sighted a headphone inadvertently left unhidden, Lomax
was one of prisoners swept up for special treatment, including
what is now euphemistically called enhanced interrogation
techniques. Numerous prisoners did not survive the tortures.

Mr. Lomax’s 1995 published book, “Railway Man”, is a engrossing,
moving read, if you are interested in WW2 accounts.
