Over here in Wisconsin we have the USS COBIA (SS-245) open for
exhibit at Manitowoc.
During WW2 the Manitowoc shipyards produced a lot of Gato class
submarines, but ironically
the COBIA wasn't one of them; if I remember correctly, this boat was
a New London product.
She's moored in the Manitowoc River, next to the Maritime Museum.

It's been some years since I toured the COBIA, and at the time I was
a bit less than impressed
by some of the efforts of the volunteer group that maintains her.
They seem to apply the old
Navy boot camp dictum of "Salute everything that moves, and paint
everything that doesn't".
That doesn't work too well when you get to the radio and SONAR
rooms... lots of Haze Gray
paint slopped over the radios!
Hopefully, they've seen the error of their ways and started cleaning
things up...
Wisconsin has a rather colorful history re. submarines. Old Timers
will still tell you about the
test dives in Lake Michigan, and then there's the legendary Captain
who kept a Milwaukee
product on board; he kept a Harley Davidson stowed on the boat when
he went on patrol, to
be set up for his use in faraway ports.
That motorcycle is still there... his boat was sunk by Japanese
forces. No known survivors.
