I sure hope my comments about the Gibson Girl radio weren't misunderstood. I
am certain that the radio worked it is just that I personally have not come
across any good credible stories or documentation about its success. They
had a caterpillar club for those who bailed out or hit the silk using a
parachute but nothing I have heard of for the Gibson Girl rescues.
Anyone have any supporting evidence or good stories?
Thanks,
Taigh

Subject: [Milsurplus] Gibson Girl
On the ARC5 list there has been discussion of the Gibson Girl, the WW II
distress beacon used in many larger Naval aircraft life boats.
One surprising claim has been made that there is no evidence anyone was ever
rescued because of one. Do you know anything about that? Nobody seems to
know anything factual.
Thanks,
-John
