[Milsurplus] Gibson Girl Kite

That rescue statement was made during my Gibson Girl presentation at
Gilbert 2008.
Information that I had received after attending many survival
schools.
When we deployed the 20 man raft I always volunteered for "kite duty"
Much better
than cranking the set or playing with the hydrogen generator. I know,
never volunteer. Anyway.
We had fun with the CRT-3 during the Gilbert meet, I had adjusted
the frequency to
510 Kcs, disabled the other frequency and when you cranked your
could hear the beacon
on a near by AM broadcast receiver.
I displayed the set:

We went round and round on these radios on one of the groups some
years
ago. One person maintained that there was no recorded instance of
anybody being rescued by using a Gibson Girl. I don't remember anyone
refuting this. Seems odd considering the number deployed. Does
anyone
have any info?
