Silk, that makes sense, John. I recall some of us grade school kiddies made 
little
parachutes out of silk and with a carefully calibrated weight, would almost 
not come

The frame is thin wall aluminum tubing, the fabric is something like nylon
or maybe silk... thin, tightly woven; light but strong.
