I asked a Russian ham if he could name the two foreign powers that had
built radio stations on Russian soil. I mean fixed plant, stationary radio
stations, not field stations. One was easy, but what was the other? No,
NOT Italy. It was the U.S. Navy station at Russian Island, off Vladivostok,
which was built and used during the Western nations' short-lived
intervention on the side of the 'White Russians' ( as opposed to the
Reds ) in the civil war.
