During the "Berlin Air Lift" in 1948 I was collocated
with the RAF (Brits) in a farm house near Fassberg, Germany.
We were using BC-191 for LF Beacons. They had what
I thought was the Rebecca/Eureka system. The item on
the kitchen table was not even as large as a shoe box.
Maybe about 10 inch cube. I think there were two units,
sitting side by side.
I don't agree with the "two miles" wikipedia comment.
It was for a longer distance up the airway towards Berlin
than that. Maybe they mean 20 miles.
Our CPN-6's were designed for close-in bombing. Friend
of mine, a much older person, used them in 6X6 trucks
right up where a person could get shot at.
