If you want some of that style of wire, make friends with an elevator 
mechanic.   DON'T approach the office or managers! Then ask him/her for 
an old Otis traveling cable. It's messy stripping off the jacket, but 
inside are many seperate #18  rubber covered conductors with various 
color combinations of woven jacket over the rubber. I have put 450 volts 
DC through it with no problem at all. That type of traveling cable was 
used into the mid 1970s, so it is still around.
I was changing it out for repairs or modernizations right up until I 
retired 2 years ago.
