A good short summary of WWII and post-WWII military TV systems, with photos of the
equipment, can be found at:

      http://www.qsl.net/w2vtm/mil_television_history.html

It mentions the USN-nomenclatured ARE/ATE, ARF/ATF, ARG/ATG, ARH/ATH, ARJ/ATJ,
and ARK/ATK television systems, and the JAN-nomenclatured AN/AXR-1 (equivalent
to ARK) and associated AN/AXT-2 (equivalent to ATK), plus the improved AN/AXT-3.

The TV camera units USN CRV-59AAA to CRV-59AAE, and JAN PH-522/AXT-2 are also
listed.

It appears that the USN had the initial interest in this type of equipment.
