John,

Enough is enough. I think WH7HG is right on target. You ask what hams
have contributed and I ask what have you done for the art? What have you
ppublished? What have you contributed to an upcoming ham radio operator?
Continued carping on a topic that has seen enough introspection, inspection,
and gawd only knows how much discussion serves no purpose other than to make
folks turn to off their computers and take up a good book. No one's
harming any of this old junk out of spite and to continue this vitriol every
time the subject of some ham making something useful to him or her is just
bad manners and lacks civility.
If a fellow or gal came up to me with a converted Command Set
transmitter full of pride and excitement about the accomplishment of making it work,
I'd certainly be excited too and show that excitement by complementing the
person for a job well done. And in addition to complementing the person, I'd
offer assistance in the way of parts and materials and technical
suggestions for future ham endeavors like my mentor, K6CXB (SK) did for me over 50
years ago. To quote Thumper (Bambi), "If you can't say something nice,
then don't say anything at all"

    Bob, KE6F
