RFL became a subsidiary of ARC so it may be that ARC's financial position
was better at the time. I have in storage an organizational chart for ARC
and its subsidiaries after the reorganization which I need to get and scan
for the website. It's rather interesting - or it is to me.

Cessna's interest in ARC started in 1955 when they bought nearly half the
stock in the company which, along with the military contracts for the Type
12 equipment, helped keep the company afloat. They bought the rest of the
stock in 1959 but didn't change the name until after the Boonton facilities
were closed in 1970. By that time, the last of the Type 12 equipment had
ceased to be produced and at least the Series 300 & Series 500 equipment was
in production. (The AN/ARC-39 was also produced during the 60s which was
definitely Cessna era although its Type K heritage is pretty obvious.) The
quality of the new equipment seems to be somewhat controversial so I'm not
going to go into it here.

There was also a system called the AN/ARN-80 which apparently was Cessna's
sole contribution to military equipment but I have yet to find anything in
depth about it.
