I'll also note that while the SINCGARS family has been in service for over 20 years, individual models have had much shorter service lives. In my opinion, an early RT-1439 SINCGARS radio is no more the same radio as a late model SINCGARS than an RT-68 is the same radio as an RT-524. Lumping all SINCGARS family radios together without differentiating by model would be comparable to lumping all previous VHF FM radios together from BC-1000 through VRC-12 series, including manpacks, handhelds and vehicular radios.
