I've got a cheapy flip down magnifier that works well. It came with
two different levels of magnification, is lightweight, and has helped
me more times than I can remember with everything from fine print to
inspecting small surfaces. The only issue is the need to have the item
fairly close to the magnifier.
Have also used one of those small, head-mounted lights similar to a
miner's light. It had three bright LEDs and worked well inside
confined spaces or even working on the bench, since it frees up a hand
normally used for a flashlight or drop cord, but has much more
flexibility than a bench light.
Still need to get one of those magnifier fluorescent crane lamps. Had
one years ago, it worked great as well.
