I've been called for jury duty four times
but have never been selected to serve.
IMNSHO, today's judges and lawyers are in love
with "the rules," and don't give a flying fig about justice.
In each case, I answered the lawyer's questions
with the absolute truth, and that has alway resulted
in my being excused.
Prosecuter: "Do you understand your duty
is to strictly apply the letter of the law?"
Me: "No; I disagree. If that were the case, a machine
would be all that was needed to render judgement.
My duty as a juror is to do justice to my peer.
I am here to also judge the applicability of the law,
or even to disregard it when justice demands."
That's the truth as I see it,
and for me, it is *not* open to debate. Period.
They always ask, and I always get excused.
Oh well.....
