Was at a swapmeet this weekend, and picked up what
I thought was a typical T-17 mic. It looked like it
had some kind of weird modification to replace the
mic element.

Upon getting it home, it turns out it is really
an M-15/UR.  The "mod" turns out not to be one.

The mouth piece holding the element is deeper, with
vents behind the element.

Is this some form of noise cancelling system?

Is the M-15/UR a general replacement for the T-17?

First time I've seen or heard of one of these.
