Gang:

So Ray says Racal 6790s are going for $135?  According to Robert's money calculator, that's $13.50 in 1961 dollars.  R-390s, OTOH, $400 to $700.  Now, in the collection sites I used to visit, R-390s were replaced by Racal 6790s simply because they could be remote (computer) controlled.  As far a could tell, they had nothing else to recomend them, and were routinely outperformed by the Kenwood R-5000 we carried with us, which had a million air miles on it and never required maintenance.  6790s were always needing fixin', and they mostly sat still.  Also , the operators never heard the signals on the Racals that the R-390s heard.  So my question is, Why oh why does anyone want a Racal 6790?
