Couldn't afford them in 1961, either (lol).
Whether it's "worth it" isn't my point.
I'd never pay those prices for toys.
$5,000 for a surplused green radio?  
$700 for an R-390?  Not about to happen.
Don't care if it works DXCC all by itself 
and even fills-out the QSL cards.
Anyone else wants to- hey; it's your money and 
God bless you.  As for just me: 
I got better things to do with thousands than buy a radio.   
I'm happy with my affordable toys ;-).

Well... come to think of it.... I did once pay over 
$300 for an SCR-288 genny with all the pieces
and parts that went with it, so I guess maybe 
it's "one man's treasure...." :).
