The FT-346 is pretty rare. It's for a single receiver, as you see. It
was used in:
AN/VRC-5 BC-603 in FT-346 mount, and BC-604 in FT-508 mount
SCR-538 BC-603 in FT-346 mount (no transmitter)
SCR-638 BC-683 in FT-346 mount (no transmitter)
The separate mounts allowed more versatility in locating the components.
The receiver could be located near an operator for pushbutton selection,
for example.
AFAIK, there was no BC-683/684 system in separate mounts like the AN/VRC-5.
Also, I don't think there was any official systems of the BC-923/924 sets
that used a separate mount for receiver and transmitter. But there's no
reason there could not have been.
>BTW: I am looking for an FT-237 mount if someone has one for sale.
That's about the single hardest to find component in these systems. The
FT-237 is not nearly as common as the mounts used for the AN/GRC-3 "Korean"
war sets.
