Wondering with all this JA stuff what would I see anything if I took out the old PDR-27 and aimed it west?, How heavy would the contamination have to be to get any kind of reading above background on one of those old sets? It picks up the sample I have real well, full scale on the bottom scale but nowhere as good in detecting Alpha from instruments as a couple other more modern sets I used but the old 27E is all I got on hand now. Is it possible that people on the west coast may see something above background as this goes on? Is the stuff released from the power plants primarily a gamma emitter or is there anything in the alpha or beta range. Myself know almost nothing about nuclear power plants but when the top of the containment is blown off that can't be a good thing. Have to think it's more than a small leak as their government says. I know it was almost seventy years ago but wasn't the losses at the battle of midway hidden not only from the Japanese people but also the government and army too?
