Usually nothing, unless they have gotten wet and corroded or greasy.

If corroded, try some Brasso on a rag, then wipe very thoroughly with a
wet rag. Corrosion is not just darkening with oxidation.

If the commutators are greasy, wipe with something like mineral spirits or
trichlor.

Then just run the machine for a half hour or so under normal load.

The bearings may require a lot more attention than the commutators and
brushes.
