As in several of the home-brew supplies, the original TCZ-1 and TCZ-2
supplies did have a relay or contactor run off of the PTT circuit. But remember
that putting the mode switch on the transmitter into CW locks down most of
that circuit. So the time delay circuit keeps the HV primaries (or
motor-generators) from being energized until whatever tubes are still present have
time to warm up.
