There is no AM Window. 3885 and 7290 are AM Calling frequencies,
that's about it. The only recognized area I'm aware of is the DX
window on 75m. Best to find a clear area and have a backup plan for
the day you show up and the frequency is in use by others. The old +/-
for QRM, alternate frequency, etc.

I'd agree that 40 is better, but it's also more fickle. Depending on
your time of day, it can be a very good band.

AM would likely be the best choice as it would allow much of the old
gear to be used, though having SSB available via Yaecomwood or
whatever for those times when conditions get bad would be a good idea.
