Nothing like that. It was likely used in a couple of ways:

On ships (for the units with an S** in the nomenclature with steel cases
and 60 Hz power supplies) to detect and warn and classify enemy RADARS
that presented a threat to the ship. The sub LIONFISH has similar gear.

On aircraft (for units with an A** in the nomenclature and aluminum cases
and 400 Hz power supplies) to identify enemy RADARS that might be painting
the aircraft, and for targeting the companion jammers to the RADARs.

Boring, but I'd think much of shipboard duty is like that, interspersed
with minutes of panic.
